Hi Guys. Bought a Devry 2832 amp at a Flea Market. It's an amp that was used with a movie projector. Looks like a suitcase. Splits in 2 . Amp on one side and speaker cabinet on the other. It's a Jensen PM12H. You then plug it in to the Amp. It's tube compliment is 2 6L6-G, 1 5U4-G. These are big bottle tubes. Also 6SN7-GT and 6V6-GT/G. The Amp is blowing the fuse so I haven't been able to play through it. I have pulled out the 5U4G and tried it and all the tubes work and don't blow the fuse. Put the rectifier back in and the fuse blows in 5 seconds. Just wondering if this amp is worth getting fixed?.Is the tube compliment any good for harp?Does anyone have any information such as a manual or schematicon this Amp? Or where to get it.Thanks For any helpyou could give me.

Hey Harpaholic. The amp is usually for sound for the old film projectors so I believe the 6V6 has something to do with running the projector. I tried another rectifier but it also blew the fuse. All the tubes work when I pull the rectifier out and the fuse doesn't blow so I'm assuming it has to do with the rectifier circuit. I was finally able to locate an amp tech that will look at it as I have a lot of respect for electricity anddon't have the know how.Just going to wait for the estimate to see if I'm going to get it fixed and put in a grounded power cord. I'll let you know how it ends up. Thanks for your help and your time because I can tell you've done some research. This was a real impulse buy but I thought the speaker must be worth the $60.00 I paid for it.
If you decide to fix it, but don't like the sound for harp, get somebody to try it for guitar. I'm not sure about what tube is doing what, but I bet that it will sound good for one or the other or both.
Found this thread, including a whole set of schematics if you follow one of the links.
I used the audiokarma link and sent it to the Amp Tech. He was ecstatic to find some information onthe Devry amp.The poor guy has been trying so hard to find information on it. I'm sure he's sorry he took on the repair for it as the initial tech said he was too busy and it seemed like a project. It looks like some of the shematics are going to help him. he says the amp is probably 30 to 40 watts and should be good for harp. Waiting for the estimate.
Got the Devry Amp back from the Tech. Has a nice floor rumble sound to it. It has more clean headroomthanthe 2 silvertone amps I have and has a lot more volume. I'm quite happy with it so far
sounds like a great find.. sound clip?
Hey Walterharp. In the process of moving. I'll try and learn how to upload sound clips sometime after my move and hopefully send a sound clip of the amp.
