Just got one of these on "permanent loan" from a guitar buddy of mine. I know it's not on the top 10 list of harp amps, but the price was right, and I thought it would be good to start on. I haven't pulled it all apart yet, but I can see that it's got a pair of 6L6s on the power side and the single stock 10" Fender driver. I'm still fiddling with settings and don't have a great harp mic yet, just my SM58, trying to find something I like sound-wise. Anybody offer any suggestions on how I can put this to best use?

Thanks.
Seth

Kingley Replied:

Change the first preamp (far right looking from the back) tube for a 12AY7.
I think it's a 12" speaker in these? If your friend will let you,get a new baffle board cut for 2X10, fit that and invest in a pair of Weber 10A125 or a couple of Jensen Alnicos. All easily reversible mods, should your friend ever want it back.

Get a Shure 545SD, the reissue is a fine mic.

That should make it sound reasonable for harp.
