Fender Hot Rod Deluxe or Deville?

Back to the Gear Room

Hi Gang,

Once again, I've been blitzed out of a gig by a PA tech who had no idea how to balance my current Blues Junior into the mix. I've been planning on a Bassman - so I have the option to go it on my own - but also have possibilities for a Hot Rod.

Anyone play through a Fender Hot Rod - Deluxe or Deville? Is it loud enough to stay even with the Spinal Tap guitar arm turned up to 12? I play in a ton of Chicago clubs and am faced with the continual problem of drowning out.

Thanks in advance.

Joe K

Kingley Replied:

Well firstly no amp will compete with a stupidly loud guitarist except maybe a HarpKing.

As for the amps. I would either go the Bassman route or get a HarpGear, Meteor or Sonny Jr amp. The Deville and Deluxe Hot Rods are not really great harp amps at all.
