What volume pot for a ceramic Astatic?

I was thinking that adding an external volume control would be a good thing for my mic in case of versitality. I've got an Astatic 10-C ceramic mic. It's a vintage from 1963 so I don't want to drill any holes. Due to instruction manual it has minimum impedance of 1 MegaOhm (1000kOhm). It's also wired for XLR 2 pin-hot. What kind and value of a pot would be suitable? I was thinking about control from Blows-me-away, but the currency value and shipping would add much to the overall cost. I would be glad for the answer.

1 Meg or 5Meg is correct.

Mimimum is 1meg, but 5meg is ideal.
