This event was run successfully in 2010, 2011, 2012, and brought more than 100 harp players together in a fashion like no other. The event was put on hiatus for 6 years and is now being revived and expanded by Sean WailinO’Phelan, the organizer of Midwest Harmonica Workshop Events, which are a series of Harmonica Instructional events that are held around the US over the last 5 years.
HCH 2018 is a 4 day and 4 night harmonica instructional intensive weekend. Designed for players from total beginner to professional or advanced, there will be a wide variety of topics discussed and demonstrated. There will be up to 150 harmonica players and 15 instructors onsite all weekend. There will be vendors, sponsors, raffles, contests and so much more.
This event is the largest concentration of blues harmonica players in the world. It is a family friendly event with an option to attend only our 4 night concerts going from 5-17 to 5-20 at the Foxfire Ranch, if the instructional part is not for you. We hire the best in the business to teach and perform for our attendees, and have a full event staff to ensure a relaxing enjoyable weekend. The entertainment and the instruction are top notch!
BONUS DAYS - The weekend has been extended by 1 day in order to fit it all in. We will run events from Thursday May 17thup until late night Sunday May 20th. Camping opens at Noonon the 17th and campers check out by Noon on Monday May 21st with last show Sunday night.
We will also meet in Oxford/Clarksdale on Weds5-16 to open things up for those already in town. There will be down time throughout the weekend, so you can soak up all that we are offering, without feeling very overwhelmed. This is not to say we won't have a continuousvariety of fun and educational stuff for you to do, to keep you busy.
It all goes down in Waterford Mississippi at the Foxfire Ranch, the same great spot as it was held in previous years. The family that owns and runs the Foxfire Ranch, known for their support of the blues scene in the south, and their ability to host large events, are fully prepared to accommodate the entire group of 150 on their beautiful property. The Foxfire is a large open farm property complete with home cooked southern meals and drinks all available for purchase. Outdoor showers, fresh coffee in the morning, an all -around downhome feel. They have put years of work and dedication into the property and event space and are fully prepared for our guests arrival in May.
There are multiple stages and classroom spaces for our discussion, performance and instruction.Breakaway clinics, focused classes, spontaneousjams, one on one timeor discussions and instructor interviews with the entire group. We will also have guest speakers, vendors, and on site sponsors, helping to make sure you have all the tools and toys you need. You have the option of staying in Holly Springs, Oxford and other areas nearby, but we encourage you to stay with us onsite...Primitive Camping space onsite is available but limited so reserve quickly.
