Dave.. I have coached baseball and girls softball for more than 20 years and I'm still doing softball. Baseball can create a bond between father and son that can't be found in any other way. I can attest to that with my son and my stepson. It was baseball and fishing that kept my stepson headed in the right direction, in my opinion. He just recently turned 30 and he is still playing baseball. I grew up on baseball and softball and I put those on a par with music in keeping me grounded. Good luck with your coaching... You'll need it.

I ordered the uniforms last night, they are red jerseys with white letters and will say "BMG New Bloods," which is the name of theteam. We'll have the uniforms in about two weeks.
Zack P Replied:
Ummm...Something tells me that HarmonicaSpace should have "New Blood" Jerseys. Because I want one. Or Elk, you should get me one and I'll buy it :-D
Zack P Replied:
Ummm yes, I want that. And if you make them I want a free one. Just kidding :)
Zack P Replied:
And, another good reason for that jersey. So my peers don't make fun of me because I don't play a sport. I'll just be like, I play on The New Blood's!!!
Brown Ale Guy Replied:
I'd order a Ricci & the New Bloods Jersey for wearing at my next giig.

No one ever dies while there is someone still to remember them. Never lose those memories.
Elk River Replied:

Elk River Replied:
Team is 2-1 now, lot of rained out games. We are tied for first place.
Randy S Replied:
If we all whine enough about jersey's could it happen? I would be partial to a cap.
GET EM DAVE!!!
Elk River Replied:
We won last night. Now in undisputed first place with a 3-1 record. Eight games left before tournament.
Zack P Replied:
I asked first Mister Randy Sandoval! Just because you make cool combs doesn't mean you can get what you want :-D
Philosofy Replied:
I'd rather have a New Blood Jersey than be a New Jersey Blood. :)
Elk River Replied:
Ah, the boys (and girl) opened up a can last night and won 9-4. Now we are at 4-4... in that last game we lost, we had one kid take a line drive in the mouth, it knocked loose a (thankfully baby) tooth, another kid got whalloped in the thumb. Last night, my son, who was catcher, took one in the wrist. He didn't cry, but he complained about it for a while, we gave him some time, checked it out, you know, to make sure he was OK, that he could move everything, then he gets back to playing. Last night, his wrist and forearm were swollen pretty badly, I made him a cold compress of frozen strawberries, which he thought was a hoot.
Kingley Replied:
Cool pic Dave!
But surely if they are The New Bloods shouldn't they all have Pentagrams or the eye of Horus on their shirts. In honour of the sponsor! :D
Elk River Replied:
I was getting my hair cut at Floyd's Barber shop, this Andy Griffith SHow theme shop we have in Parkersburg, they had pics of Andy and Barney on the wall. I, thus far undefeated, the Rocky Marciano, if you will, of Andy Griffith Show trivia, had never noticed this, but Andy and Barney have pentagrams on their shoulder. I had known they had the six point prewar Hohner star as badges, but didn't know they had pentagrams. Not filled in stars, but actual pentagrams. This, I suppose, supports Jason's point about the symbols. If Andy Taylor has one, by God, it must be OK.
Elk River Replied:
I forgot to post Barney's pentagram... it's on left shoulder.
Reed Triller Replied:
That team photo brings back lots of little league and t-ball memories.
Thanks,Jason, for doing what you did. They`ll have memories like I have because of that.

Harmonica virtuoso Jason Ricci and New Blood/Brady Mills Graphics (the same guys who brought you Harmonicaspace) are sponsoring a Little League team in Parkersburg, WV. I'm the head coach. Ireally wanted to sponsor the team with Elk River Harmonicas, but I couldn't come up with the $$$.Jason called me tonight and we were talking about stuff and I mentioned that I was coaching my son's Little League team (7&8 year olds). Right away, Jason offered to sponsor it. He and Brady Mills Graphics are splitting the cost of sponsorship and they are also going to buy a bunch of baseballs for the kids...
Times are tight for Jason and Brady like everybody else, and the economic conditions are to blame for sponsorships being down so and it's why we went so long without a sponsor (our season starts Apr. 25).It's a great thing to see Jason and Brady step in and sponsor a baseball team and I'm very thankful for it.
Jason is pretty excited about it, he's strutting around like he'sBranch Rickeyor something... it's another example of the straight-up guy he is.
This is my first year coaching. Last time I was involved with Little League baseball, I played in it and my maternalgrandpa took me to every game. He lived like 30 miles away, yet he never missed a single game, even though he was working at the time. I'm still using the glove he bought me when I was 7. It was big then, but he said I'd grow into it. I did. I think about him a lot, especially during baseball season. I was alone with him when he died and I remember the last thing he said to me "The Braves are going to win a hundred games this year." He had a heart attack and died a few minutes later.
The Braves went on to a 106-56 season.
Baseball is a very important thing, it's a bond that transcends the generations... nowit's my son... It's a very special thing for a father and I see why he enjoyed it so.I'm touched that Jason stepped up to the plate and came through for us.
