Post Event - For Immediate Release
From May 20th to May 22nd, 2011, FOR A SECOND YEAR over 140 blues harmonica players, and over 20 of their friends and companions descended onto the Foxfire Ranch, in rural Mississippi, to experience what some have called a "no excuses, total immersion in blues harmonica learning, music, lore and spirit" - HILL COUNTRY HARMONICA

"...the only way it could have been better is if it had happened
in my own back yard!"...Keith K, HCH 2011 Attendee
They arrived from 34 states and 7 countries...from Lansing MI to London, England, from New York City to New South Wales, Australia....they gathered to learn from blues harmonica masters. The giants like Grammy winner Sugar Blue, Jason Ricci, Johnny Sansone, Satan & Adam (with Adam Gussow), Charlie Sayles, Jimi Lee and Sonny Boy Terry from Texas, Brandon Baileyfrom Memphis, Deak Harp from the windy plains of Deep South Illinois, and special invited guests PT Gazell from Memphis and Alex Paclin all the way from Russia. Plus, back again, playing the hoodoo/voodoo blues on cracklin' hill country guitar, legend Bill "Howl-N-Madd" Perry. They played and jammed, they learned and camped, they simmered in the warm Hill Country Sun and got rained on by the ever-changing weather, all while eating BBQ pulled pork & catfish. They sipped the northern Mississippi aperitif that shall remain as nameless as it is colorless. Last year a community was proudly born; this year was the long awaited homecoming. Lightning struck twice for blues harp lovers!
"...Those all star jams were $%#*@ unbelievable!
"...Michael P. 2010 & 2011 HCH Alumni
Hosted by Adam Gussow of Satan and Adam, founder and Jeff Silverman of, & this 2nd annual two-and-a-half-day intensive blues harmonica happening,
filled with workshops, jams, and performances, took place at fantastic Foxfire Ranch in Waterford Mississippi. Next year's event, Hill Country Harmonica III, will be held on May 18th through May 20th,2012, the weekend before
Memorial Day. Please save the date!
"Hill Country Harmonica, a yearly
pilgrimage!"...Richard S, 2011 HCH attendee
