Piney Brown passed away last night. If you are not familiar with Piney here is a link to an article from a couple of years ago:
I was lucky enough to get to play harp for Piney through-out most of the 1990's. I can't begin to explain how much playing with Piney meant to me. A true legend. Singer, song writer and great showman. Piney Brown was a true friend. He gave me the chance to grow and learn from the great musicians in his "Swift Wind Band"
What I will always think of when I think of Piney is, wow what fun. Piney had a laugh like no other. He was known to open his car trunk to reveal a well stocked bar with mixers, ice and glasses. That was very cool at festival gigs. He liked to have a good time but was always the consonant professional. I could tell Piney Brown stories for hours.
All of us in the Dayton music community are sad for our loss. As are millions of people around the world that Piney touched with his music and his warmth.
Rest well Piney, we miss you.

This isn't a great video but it is the last time I played with Piney Brown. This was shot at a benefit for Piney. He had bypass surgery a few weeks before this in Aug. 2007

Thanks Robb, that's special. What a jam. A man doing his thing
with authority and respect from all those around him. You've been truly blessed.
