What are some cheap but good ways to sound proof,or at least seriously deaden sound in a room that has a wall that is shared with the duplex next door?

This is a somewhat quiet neighborhood and even though the neighbors are younger, in their mid 20s, I don`t want to annoy them when I start using an amp.

The cheapest way is absolutely classic old school that still works, and that is, using egg cartons, tho it's really ugly looking. If you had your own house and a cellar, it would be the easiest way to go.
