Gday all, This is an extention of blueeyes Music I Missed post. It struck me while reading it that I hold on to alot of loved music that I dont tell people about because It is not in fashion or is too Daggy or is just plain wierd. So I thought I would ask what one peice of music do you love so much but do not really share with other people. I guess it is only harmonica related in that I draw so much from these sources when playing.
Mine is .......... Mamy Blue a mild hit when I was growing up in the 70's
Well I love a lot of wierder stuff (like Captain Beefhart) but this holds a special place.

Good post chris,
hope to be able to find a few and listen to them. for some reason I got this bug about non main street music. Maybe its the fight for the middle man. Or maybe just hating what is on the radio.. in fact I don't even listen to the radio anymore. If its not on my Ipod its not worth it. if you do not mind I may add some non blues songs that I think are great.
but not right now, way past my lunch time.

I love the chanting of Gregorian Monks. To me, it is very calming.

Don't know if this counts as "weird" but there's a retro style of Mozambique music called Marrabenta, as made (relatively) famous by a dude named Fany Mpfumo. I couldn't find anything on the tube but keep your eyes/ears peeled for it.
I'll see your weird and raise you one!
The Tubes (on youtube! Who knew?)
First two albums by Throbbing Gristle. Early Kraftwerk, Brian Eno, Can. I think in 50 years people will call this stuff 20th century classical.
What do you mean under world "weired"? I listen to a lot of strange music.
I love some free jazz bands like "The Thing"
Kruzenshtern & Parahod
some stuff from John Zorn
But I can recommend these music to everyone. I think they are great.
I guess Boris when I was growing up I had no musical friends. My friends all listerned to AC/DC and other Aussie clasic rock. I like that stuff sometimes but i was listerning to Motown, Steely Dan, Sonny and Terry,Three Dog Nightand stuff my friends would consider definately Strange. I know now that they are not strange but I still avoid talking about the stuff I really like. It is safer to just talk about sport in Australia. Alot of people respond to the harmonica though. just the whole 'wooping the blues' thing that Sony Terry would do would freak people out.
When I grow up all I heard was motown and old spanish music. I then got into the latin jazz scean when it poped up in NYC back in the 70's. I was lucky at the time that I was not carded and had a girl friend that was 4 years older than me and loved latin music.
Fania All Star
this list can go on for ever.

Abner do you like Hugo Díaz from Argentina. I do.
When I was young most people around me listened to Prodigy, while I listened to sh*t Russian rock. I hate Prodigy when I was young, but I just listen them again and noted that they are great funky, groovy and has a lot of energy and I relly like them now.
Hugo Diaz is cool, great frulatto, a lot of emotions. Do you mean it's weird music?
Only too strange bass on this track.
I loved the kazoo in this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AmhikNFrPgs
Goth before goth was cool: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=26JgBMtOaYc
Joe L , a few years ago, ok a very long time ago in college art class we had to buy an LP of the Gregorian Monks. Its was not bad. Or maybe it was because to this day I remember them.
I was also wondering the same thing as to what is weird. To one man a rose is a rose to another a rose is just an allergy attack or a way out of the dog house. I remember a song called "Oh Superman" I cant remember the women who sang it. At the time I love it. It was so different.
abner ( BluEyes, "oh Superman " )
"Oh Superman" by Laurie Anderson

a better one
BlueMoose, thats it. I just heard it and loved it. I remember playing it at a party and a women screamed dropped the plates and freaked out. We had to stop playing it. The party sucked after that. So im not sure if this should go into the weird category or what category to put it in.
I still enjoy it, lauria Anderson what ever happen to her. PS no Harmonica in this song at lest I dont think so.
