About a month ago a friend of mine passed away from complications of colon cancer and cancer in various other organs. She was like a second mom and was also responsible for my fiancee and I getting together.
In my normal job I am a cook.I`ve cooked in diners to fine dining establishments.
My friend was taking cooking lessons. She was diabetic and had plans to open a diabetic friendly restaurant and she was putting together a cookbook for diabetics.
Along the way she had purchased lots of knives and a couple very nice knife cases for carrying a selection of knives around.Yes,cooks have cases for their tools of the trade, too :)
After her memorial service we went back to her place with her husband and many of their close friends and family.
We were the last ones to leave that night but before we left her husband tells me that she wanted me to have something. It felt weird to know that she considered me as someone to will something to.
He walks away and comes back with 2 knife cases. One being the fold out type you carry on your shoulder, the other being one of the top of the line Messermiester suitcase style cases also with a shoulder strap.
I don`t have a lot of knives at this time although I will eventually be getting some of hers once her husband takes his pick of what he prefers from the batch so I am going to turn the Messermiester suitcase style bag intoone of myharmonica gear cases.
I`m sure i`ll get a big smile every time I open that case to put something in or take something out to use.

I have not gotten the foam for the inside yet but here is a link to show what the case looks like normally.
That case will be filled with music and memories. What a great way to honor your friend. It also is wonderful that the art forms of cooking and music are working together.
