Ok, end of the line for Jaw and Jo. the top 5 were picked:
BLUE LUNCH, CLEVELAND, OH; SAXOPHONE SHOOTOUT II......
BAD INFLUENCE, FREDERICK, MD; UNDER THE INFLUENCE.....
MIKEY JR, JERSEY SHORE; IT AIN'T HARD TO TELL....
DAVE KELLER, RHODE ISLAND; WHERE I'M COMING FROM....
SUZIE VINNICK, TORONTO, CANADA; ME N MABEL....
We want to congratulate all the folks who made it to the top 5. We prefer to believe that we were #6!
From where we're sitting, getting to the top 30 WORLD WIDE was just awesome for a couple of gray headed part time musicians. the cats we were up against were full time players with thousands of dollars worth of gear and recording stuff.
Our cd initially cost $65 to record in a friend's spare room, through 2 mics and 2 channels, into a MAC computer. Mastering was done free by another friend.
For a total GRASS ROOTS effort to go the distance it has, that's just a life time achievement for us personally. Sure, we'd have loved to keep going, but there is no bitterness here. We have been in such good company all this while. We thank all you well-wishers for sending your good vibes our way.
SEE YOU NEXT TIME!

update update update.......
our cd was in the top 30 picks at IBC, but did not make it into the top 5, or logically, win. this is not bad news really, in checking out the competition we saw and heard on youtube a lot of very talented and experienced players, solos, duos, and bands. the winners definitely earned their place and we are grateful to have been ranked near them at this competition.
we had not even considered submitting this cd to the local blues society but since they volunteered, we thought what the heck, what can we lose? and it has been a great ride. we are continuing to write material and we have 2 new projects on the drawing board. one is a public domain effort with bass and drums, the other is a new all original project with full band, guest artists, the works. now if we can just find the money.....

LIFESTYLES of the POOR and INFAMOUS, produced by yours truly, Jawbone and Jolene, has made the first cut in Memphis for best self-produced cd honors, passing from a field of 74 into a field of 30. we will find out in early February if we make the next cut.
this cd is a labor of love consisting of 10 original songs penned and arranged by us. the cover art and all content is from our own experiences. it was humbly recorded with a Mac computer and software and mastered by a friend with some good editing software. the cover art is from a street artist who has worked locally for a long time. some 8 or 9 years ago i told him a drawing of his would end up on the cover of my first cd, and while this is not the first, i have managed to get his art out there a little bit anyway.
here's a link to the cd:

we also have a couple of songs at our reverbnation page:

and we have some video at our youtube page by the same name.
if all goes well this cd will end up as a digital download as well. meanwhile, take a listen to the free stuff and if you want one you can message me or hit the top link to get one direct from the jobber.
