Doc Malone
About Me
I'm a Bloomington IN general pediatrician with 4 kids, 1 girlfriend, 2 ex's, 1 dog, 2 cats. I play in several bands. Nine Below Zero is my current Blues band; I play in Zion Crossroads (dreadneck Rock n Roll, reggae, crescent city, hillbilly, blues), and Random Eyez (Funk, Jazz, and Rock); have lately started sitting in with Bob Tamborrino and Friends (straight jazz); Other bands include Continental Drift (ecclectic original americana); Whiskey Before Breakfast (Old Timey, Bluegrass, Celtic, Americana featuring just fiddle and harp); and a Motown Revue band. My first band, Code Blue featuring Bobbie Lancaster, has a CD from 2004 available digitally on CD Baby and iTunes. The first band after the Code Blue era, Carol Lockridge and Friends, went to the 2007 IBC in Memphis. I just recorded three tunes on Bobbie Lancaster's "Music 4 Little Folks" CD. I play diatonic in first, second, third, and 12th positions comfortably and Chromatic. I'm working on various keys on Chrom as I expand into Jazz.
Nine Below Zero will represent Indiana in January 2010 at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis TN http://blues.org/#ref=ibc_current
As of 11/15/2009, I'm the harp player for Big Bill Morganfield http://www.bigbillmorganfield.net/
Interests
I'm a workaholic. See patients 330+ days per year, take hospital night call, and play about 75 shows per year. I've been collecting old amps and mics the past few years and am hoping to share the pleasure of playing 'em with my fellow harp players. I'm involved with the restructuring of our local Blues Society, and like to visit our local weekly Blues jam in Bloomington, IN. I'm an Indiana Hoosier basketball, soccer, and football fan.
